Dr K. Radhakrishnan, the Director of Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre will take charge as the new chairman of ISRO. ISRO’s plans for the manned mission into space have been submitted to the Government. And the ISRO manned mission is to take off in 2015. The take off of the manned mission of ISRO in 2015 will bring glory to the new ISRO chairman Dr K. Radhakrishnan. Dr K Radhakrishnan will succeed G Madhavan Nair as Chairman of the ISRO on 1st of November 2009.
Dr Radhakrishnan has already started his duties in Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) as an avionics engineer and went on to hold several key positions in ISRO. The whole heartedly dedicated man to India and space researches dedicates even his personal time for it. If not he could have waited to take charge on November 1st 2009 in ISRO.
K. Radhakrishnan the new chairman of ISRO was also the Director of Budget and Economic Analysis of the entire ISRO and the National Mission Director of Integrated Mission for Sustainable Development. Radhakrishnan was also the Vice – Chairman of Inter-governmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO and the Founder Chairman of Indian Ocean Global Ocean Observing System (IOGOOS).
The breaking news of ISRO is that Dr. Radhakrishnan is going to be the new chairman of ISRO. Dr K. Radhakrishnan will succeed the current ISRO chairman G. Madhavan Nair as he retires at the end of this month. Dr K. Radhakrishnan will be officially the new ISRO chairman on 1st November 2009. Dr K. Radhakrishnan says that his present mission is to lead the team ISRO to achieve the objectives in the best way he can.
The qualifications of the new ISRO chairman Radhakrishnan are Graduation in engineering from Kerala University in 1970, an MBA from IIM, Bangalore, and doctorate from IIT Kharagpur. He started his career in ISRO in early 1971 as an avionic engineer in VSSC.

Again ISRO is going to be lead by a malayalee. Dr.K.Radhakrishnan has appointed as the chairman of ISRO on today. Dr. Radhakrishnan will take the charge of ISRO Chairman from G. Madhavan Nair at the end of this month. A senior scientist who played a key role in several Indian space missions, Radhakrishnan succeeds Dr G. Madhavan Nair who is retiring this month end. Now he is taking the role, Director of Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Thiruvananthapuram. K.Radhakrishanan was one of the leader for implementing lunar mission Chandrayaan. He said he was very thankful to all people for supporting him to take the power of ISRO. His further plans are space applications, satellites and launch vehicles were “programmes of thrust”. Another imporant mission is the human space flight programme, he said.
Talking about him, Dr. Radhakrishnan was the space Engineer of Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Thiruvananthapuram. After graduating in engineering from college of engineering Trivandrum Kerala, he took the Doctrate from IIT Kharatpur. After that he also completed MBA from IIM in 1976.
Dr.Radhakrishnan had served as Director of Budget and Economic Analysis and Director of Regional Remote Sensing Service Centres. He was also with the Department of Ocean Development and served as project director of early warning system of tsunami and storm surges. Besides these, Radhakrishnan is an enthusiast of Kerala’s classical art form Kathakali and a keen Karnatic music lover and deep knowledge in both.
