JAYALAKSHMI -TRIVANDRAM SHOWROOM OPENING

The third mega showroom of Jayalakshmi in Kerala is opening in Trivandrum today. The inaugural function is at 12.00PM. His Highness Uthratam Thirunal Marthanda Varma will be officially inaugurating the ceremony. Min.V.S.Sivakumar, Trivandram mayor Ad.K.Chandrika, Sivankutty M.L.A. and ward counselor Dr.Sarojam will be attending the function.
This mega showroom is starting at the heart of Trivandram near over bridge in the MG road. Amoung the six floors, there is a wide collection ranging from bridal saris to kids wear. Other than the Jayalakshmi special bridal saris, lacha and casual saris, churidar material, readymade churidar, kids wear, western wear, shirts, trousers, shervani and designer suits are also there in the collection.
It was in 1947 that Narasimha Kammath started Jayalakshmi in Kochi. In the 50s and 60s they paved the way for a new era in the wedding cloths collection by introducing the real kanchipuram silk in the Kerala market. The shop which started in the broadway in kochi very soon expanded with a wide collection of Vengatagiri, Mangalagiri, Chanderi, Dhaka, Kolkota, Oriya and Banarasi saris. And thus Jayalakshmi became the final word in the world of sari.
In 1997, they started the first most modern bridal showroom in Ernakulam at the MG road. And very soon it became the evertime favourite wedding sari destination for the Keralaites. They changed our wedding cloths concept by introducing various bridal decorated saris from the different places of India.
They presented before us the amazing collection that ranges from white bridals and decorated bridals to kanchipuram silks and bridal lachas. They changed with the changing taste of women and it marked the arrival of a new trend.
With the arrival of the new fashionable and trendy cloths, sari was losing its popularity amoung people and it was then Jayalakshmi entered the cloth industry with a difference. Their innovations and new experiments created a new interest in the minds of people and it attracted them to the stores. The reason for their success was that they were never against fashion or fashionable cloths. But they presented sari in a new fashion. They found out a new beauty in this cloth and the people accepted it. The innovative designs presented by them were too attractive that even the modern generation found their interest in it. After Jayalakshmi a number of other companies arrived following their path and many of them came out as a success too. But the place that Jayalakshmi made in our hearts remains there unchanged and unoccupied.
