Pillion Riders Without the Helmet should be allowed or not?

Kerala police and kerala government  has done a  wonderful job in enforcing helmets for two wheeler drivers. Now a days you wont even see a single person not wearing a helmet while driving a two wheeler .Regular checking and punishment(fine of 100rs) have forced people to wear helmet for every ride. Last time when the helmet rule was implemented the pillion rider was also supposed to wear helmet. This created a lot of complaints from the people as it was considered very inconvenient. So when the rule was reinstated once again the law was changed,  that the pillion rider may or may not wear helmet. This is one thing that confuse every one  including me as a two wheeler rider. In a motor cycle both the riders is equally prone to injury and death(in actual case the pillion rider is more prone). The possibility of pillion rider being over thrown in a accident is very high because he is in elevated position thing and have nothing to grab on to. Two-wheeler riders refuse the use helmets on excuses such as blocking of audibility and baldness ,both of this is will not be useful after your after life. In more than 60% of the fatal accident it the pillion rider who has died. So it is a plea from group of people who are tired of seeing horrible deaths in the roads to make helmets compulsory for the pillion rider too.

I am George,Project coordinator for Rotary International’s road safety project.I was the person who filed the three cases in the high court for helmets and subsequently the high use of helmets in the state. For your information,a case is pending in the court for pillion helmets and the same was file by me,Its most probable that a positive verdict could be expected.

Helmets are required for safe and comforatable riding. Being a true enthusiast of biking I use to wear it regularly even before the verdict.

Thank you George sir for your activities for securing the lives
