Parambikulam declared as Tiger Reserve

The Paramikulam national park is declared Tiger Reserve. This is the 38th tiger reserve of India and 2nd of the kind in Kerala after Periyar Tiger Reserve Thekkady. The tiger reserve is of 390.88 sq km. It is also having a buffer zone of 252.77 sq km. Parambikulam was declared as Tiger Reserve on last week by union Minister of Forest and Environment, Shri. Jairam Ramesh in the presence of Kerala chief minister V.S. Achutanandan and forest minister Binoy Vishwam. The Parambikulam wildlife sanctuary constitutes different species vegetation and animals. Parambikulum is now the chief attraction of the tourists visiting Kerala.
