: The Life of Guru

Yugapurushan, the much waited Malayalam movie screening the life of Sree Narayana Guru will hit silver screen tomorrow(05-02-2010). A multi star historical movie that brings almost all famous personalities that took part in social reforms during the period of Sree Narayana Guru. The movie portraits Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindranath Tagore, Dr. Palpu, C.V.Kunjiraman, Mannathu Padmanabhan, T.K. Madhavan and Ayyankali. The film is directed by R.Sukumaran who has done great works in Malayalam like Padamudra and Rajashilpi. He told that he has done about 15 year’s research on this project. The role of Guru is done by Tamil actor Tallievasal Vijay. Mega star Mammootty comes in the role of K.C Kuttan. Yugapurushan starring several artists from Malayalam include Siddique, Sai Kumar, Jagathy Sreekumar, Kalabhavn Mai, Babu Antony, Tampi Antony, Devan, Saji Vakanad, Jishnu, George Paul Gandhi and Navya Nair. The music is done by Mohan Sithara and Lyrics by Kaitapram. Yugapurashan has 7 songs. The singers include Yesudas, Madhu Balakrishnan and Unni Menon. The movie is produced by M.V. Anoop. Yugapurushan will be a legend in Malayalam cinema.

D-Lit for Mammootty

Kerala University awarded D-Lit honorary degree to Mammootty, Adoor Gopalakrishnan and mrudangam expert Umalpuralam K.Shivaraman. The award was presented by Kerala governor R.S Gavai. Mammootty told in the function that he is very happy to have D-Lit From Kerala university which has awarded him degree as well as masters degree while he was a student. Adoor Gopalakrishnan is the first film director to achieve the D-Lit of Kerala University. The homorary degree was awarded for their contributions in art and culture.

Mandira Bedi coming to Cochin

The event is organized by Cochin backwaters round table No.131. The “conditions apply” is an English play starring Mandira Bedi and Darshan Jariwalla. The venue is IMA house at Kallor. Yesudas turns 70

The Malayalis all-around and the world as well as the music lovers celebrated the 70^th birthday of their musical hero Dr. K. J. Yesudas. Yesudas, the ultimate presence in the Malayalam film songs and devotional has blessed his fans and admirers with his divine voice for many decades. He first sang for Malayalam film industry in 1961. He has done great works in many other languages too.

Yesudas visited Mukambika temple at Kollor with his son Vijay Yesudas and family yesterday. The social organizations and clubs all around Kerala celebrated their star’s birthday with various cultural events and gatherings.

Yesudas is the great possession of the world. All Malayalis wished their king of music birthday greetings.

50th Kerala School Youth Festival

Calicut, the heritage city of Kerala is hosting the Golden jubilee edition of the Kerala school youth festival. The whole festival will last for next 7 days adding color to the city. Everywhere the extravaganza of the celebrative event can be measured. The inauguration ceremony is in Manacnchira square at 6.00 p.m.

Calicut is the favorite place of all literature gems and artists of Kerala. The people of Calicut are good patrons of art and literature. Calicut is also notable for its hospitality that welcomes everyone. All these favorable circumstances made Calicut the optimal place for the 50^th school youth festival.

The competitions are categorized into high school, higher secondary, vocational higher secondary, Sanskrit fest and Arabic literature fest. There are totally 16 stages on which around 8400 contestants are participating to brush up and exhibit their talents. Totally there are 218 competition events.

Trivandrum and Calicut are the strong pillars of the youth festival. Trivandrum has won the fest 18 times and Calicut was the winners of last 3 consecutive years and has achieved the overall trophy for 10 years

The 50^th Kerala youth festival will be held with tight security measures. A special committee is organized for the complaints and appeal regarding the judgments. The food for the participants will be catered under the supervision of Pazayitdam Mohanan Nambootiri form Kurichitanam Kottayam.

It is now the time of joy and celebration for the people of Calicut. Even in between the tensions of competition the students will surely enjoy the fest. The waves of the youth festival will remain in their memories for ever. It is a great opportunity to be a part of the Golden jubilee edition of the School youth festival.

Medical City coming to Cochin

In between all the unclear and doubtful talks on smart city, a ray of hope for another development project in Kerala. This is the Medical city is from D.M health care group. The group is having plans of establishing various medical firms throughout Kerala. The Medical city at Cochin will be a 500 crore project. The group is having plans of investing 800 crores in the Medical field of India. Along with the medical city Cochin the group will establish a medical college at Wayanad. The new plans were announced by the chairman of the group Dr. Asad Muppan.

The Medical city will be constructed in 35 acres of land. The project will be constructed in 2 phases. In the initial stage hospital with 500 beds, convention centre, Hotel facility for Guests and relatives of patients, accommodation facility for doctors and staff will be constructed. In the second stage expert facilities for specialized branched will be established. This includes modern treatment facilities for specialties as eye, heart and cancer. The group is also conducting several social service activities in the medical field.
