Today chief minister of Kerala Oommen Chandy celebrate his 69th birthday. He was born in October 31, 1943 in Puthuppally, Travancore in British Indian Empire. OommenChandy also called as ‘Kunjoonju’ in his near ones. He was born to K.O. Chandy and Baby Chandy. He was born on a Malayali Syrian Christian family at Puthuppally now in Kottayam district, Kerala.
OommenChandystarted his political career through the Kerala Students Union (KSU). He wasthe unit president of KSU at St George High School, Puthupally, and went on to become the State President of the organization from 1967 to 1969.He was elected as the president of the State Youth Congress in 1970.
Every year November 1 people in Kerala celebrated as Kerala Piravi. On November 1, 1956 the state of Kerala was created. The 3 day International Rubber Conference 2012 (IRC 2012) by International Rubber Research and Development Board (IRRDB) was held from October 28 – 30, 2012 at Hotel Samudra, Kovalam, Trivandrum, Kerala, India. Thrissur nurses are on strike against management on 29 November 2012. But this is only a warning for the management and mighty long for a long time later on if the requirements of the nurses are not met. The staff nurses at Mother Hospital Olari, Thrissur, Kerala has been striving for their basic requirements for the last two months. The problems they face are unnecessary and unjust transfers, minimum wages, etc. Though political parties and leaders came forward in support of the nurses, no good result was found for the problem. Thus, today on 29 November 2012 all the nurses in Thrissur district are going to begin a strike says United Nurses Association. But the Nurses Association is not cruel towards the patients and they keep professional ethics. For this they have assured a service at the casualty department of all the hospitals. And this withdrawal from the job will continue for an unlimited period unless the management agrees with the requirements of the nurses regarding basic salary. Now, the District Labor Officer has promised to pressurize the government regarding the issue and has limited the strike to a single day.
Kodikkunnil Suresh was born in Kodikkunnil in Trivandrum district of Kerala, India. His parents are Mr. Kunjan and Mrs. Thankamma. He was born on 04 June 1962 and got married on 30 June 1994 to Bindu. He leads a happy family life with two children: one son and a daughter. Auto Riksha, Taxi and bus fares increased. It was decided to hold a taxi strike on 30 October earlier when the diesel price was increased by Rs. 5/- in Kerala. Now the transportation minister Mr. Arayadan Muhammed has agreed to the taxi drivers union representatives to increase the taxi minimum charges which even public are in support as the fuel charges went high. As per the green signal from the government, the taxi strike by the union was now postponed for other ten days till November 10. Now before the said date the fares are legally increased to avoid a strike in Kerala and it in fact was necessary and essential for the survival of the bus and taxi operators.
The Kerala government ministry today 07 November 2012 made a final decision regarding the same. Thus the new minimum charge for buses will be Rs.6/-. The minimum charge for auto rikshas (3 wheels) will increase from Rs. 12 – Rs. 15 and the four wheel taxi minimum charge will increase from Rs.60 – Rs.100. This will thus put us in a state that we cannot hire a car even in emergency without having Rs.100 in pocket. The rates per kilometer for 3 wheelers will increase from Rs. 7 – Rs. 8 and for cars it will be increased to Rs. 10 from Rs. 8.

A Malayali girl, Deepika Kurup settled in USA has been named America’s Top Young Scientist. Her scientific project impressed many people including president Obama. The award is including$25,000 and a trip from Discovery Student Adventures.
Deepika Kurup is the eldest daughter of Dr. Pradeep Kurup, he works in the Nashua university in New Hampshire and her mother Meena. Her scientific project is in the field of sustainable and cost effective water purification system. It is gives her to win the 2012 Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge.
“It feels awesome, I put a lot of time and effort into this project and I am happy it got recognition like this” Deepika said to the media.
Through the project she implements a new technology which harnesses solar energy to disinfect contaminated water. By using this technology she pointed out that can help over 1.1 billion people around the world who lack access to clean drinking water.
