Anoop Jacob Won the Piravom By-Poll
UDF candidate Anoop Jacob won in piravom by-poll with a high lead. He got 12,070 votes more than the LDF’s candidate M.J Jacob. His father T.M Jacob got only 157 lead in 2011 assembly polls but Anoop Jacob got a record victory in his first election. T.M Jacob’s death is the cause of this election. This election registered a record polling about 86.3%. The UDF tally in the state assembly has gone up to 72 with this win. After the death of T.M Jacob the strength of UDF in the 140 member assembly had gone down to 71. Also the resignation of Neyyattinkara MLA Selvaraj affects LDF’s strength. Their strength is reduced to 67. Neyyattinkara bypoll will conduct within six months. Annie Jacob the mother of Anoop Jacob said she is very happy because her son won the election with more than 10,000 votes lead and also wish to see him as a responsible politician.
The counting started at today 8 am. First the postal votes are counted. Then LDF’s candidate M.J Jacob has got the lead. Then after Chottanikara and Tiruvankulam panchayats counting started. After the counting at Chottanikara and Tiruvankulam panchayats LDF got only 200 votes lead. When the first rounds of counting completed, UDF candidate Anoop Jacob has got 5000 votes lead.
Kerala State Budget 2012-13
Finance Minister K M Mani started his budget presentation in the Assembly. He postponed the date only because of the piravom election. He said budget will allow enough money for making developments in the state and high speed rail routes arrangements will made soon. According to his view now the state overcame the financial crisis. He is presenting his 10th budget today. Last year he presented the new version of the LDF’s budget and on March 19 he will present the UDF’s budget.
- He allowed Rs 150 crore for Cochi metro.
- For each Panchayathu he will start Green house project.
- The pension age is increased to 56.
- For basic infrastructure Rs 705 crore is allowed.
- Revenue income up.
- Give more priority for agriculture areas.

Piravom Campaigning End Today
Today is the last date for Piravom Campaigning. The election duty is done by the district collector P.I. Sheikh Pareed. He announced that the piravom bypoll campaign should end today by 5 p.m. It is the elections rule that public campaigning should stop before 48 hours of the election polling day. And Saturday is the polling day. Collector P.I. Sheikh Pareed demanded for all television channels and FM stations to report about all violating actions. Saturday polling will conduct between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The voter’s should bring their identity card or voters slip that issued by the election commission.Closed circuit televisions are arranged for the monitoring process of the election result counting.
Railway Budget 2012
Railway minister Dinesh Trivedi started his budget presentation on the Parliament. He said that he mainly aim the common man needs. He reported that he will start a new authority for the security of the railway. An expert group will handle this and the former Atomic Energy Commission chairman Anil Kakodkar is the head of this authority. Safety and improving infrastructure are the main aim of his budget. To achieve better safety protocols special purpose vehicle will set up. Special care actions will take for avoiding unmanned level crossings. And also he said the target of reducing accidents from 0.55 to 0.17 has been met.
Joy Alukkas Launched Joy Jets
Joy Alukkas launched chartered luxury aviation in Kerala. And they also started helicopter services in our state. Joy Alukkas group has invested Rs 42 crore for this project. It is for the expansion activities of joy jets and for the aviation group. They are the biggest gold jewellery retail chain in kerala. And they will invest 100 crore for their aviation wing. Joy Alukkas group will provide exclusive air charter services to different locations in India and abroad. They also launched some helicopter tours within kochi. Presently Joy Jets has one jet and helicopter. They are planing to launch four new jets.It may launched on this December. Joy Alukkas group plans to launch an eight passenger plane also. It will cover 2000 nautical miles.
