North-South High Speed Railway Line

The proposed railway line is of 650 km from Manjeshwaram to Trivandrum. This line passes through almost all districts of Kerala except Wayanad and Idukki. After the successful commissioning the Trivandrum –Kasargode journey will take only 3 hours instead of the current 13 hours. This new service not only saves time, but also a good solution to traffic bocks in our state highways. The unused space near the existing tracks can be utilized for the construction of high speed tracks. The estimated speed of trains in this track is about 250 km/hr and cost required for the project’s completion is greater than 50,000 crores.
