VIVA KERALA – NOW CHIRAG UNITED
The only current I- league football club from Kerala, the Viva Kerala will now be known as Chirag United Kerala. This new advancement came to being after the merging of the Kerala club and the Kolkata based Chirag United Sports Pvt Ltd.The owner of the Chirag computers, Kaustav Roy told the press that the company now had the majority stake hold in the Kerala outfit.
He also explained that even though the Kolkata company have taken over the club, the home of the team will remain as Kerala. The All India Football Federation do not allow five football teams for a single city and Kolkata already have four teams as its own. The foot ball clubs, the city now have are Mohun Bagan, East Bengal, Prayag United SC and Pailan Indian Arrows.
Subrata Bhattacharya is appointed as the technical director of the club and Unnikrishnan will continue as the coach of the team. Chirag United Kerala is decided to have the base at Kannur. The achievement of the team in 2010-11 was the finish at 10th in the I – league.
The owners explained that they are keeping the name taking into account the sentiments of the people of Kerala. They are having a two year contract with some 21 players of the earlier Chirag United SC and therefore the core team will be selected from them. They are also planning to bring some foreign players and soon they will be approached with the contract. The management said that they are very much confident about the new team they are building and the team will definitely rise to the expectations of them and the public.
The training of the team for the hand full of upcoming tournaments such as the Federation Cup, IFA Shield and Durand Cup will be conducted in Kolkata. They are about to ask the sports department of the ministry, the permission to have the residential camp at the Kalyani Stadium.
The club will also be affiliated by the Kerala Football Association. The secretary of the Kerala outfit, P.Bhaskaran expressed his extreme joy about the support they received for football at the present society where everything is a bit cricket centric.
For over four seasons Chirag computers have been the sponsors of United SC. The club Viva Kerala was a long time dream of all football lovers of Kerala and when it was realized the club got a great support from the audience. Even though the club will now be known as Chirag United Kerala, our affection towards the team will remain the same we would love to see it coming out victorious.

KOCHI TUSKERS KERALA
Kochi Tuskers kerala one of the two new teams added to the Indian premier league (IPL) 2011. The Team is owned by Kochi Cricket Pvt. Ltd, which is a consortium of multiple companies. The other team which was selected was Pune Warriors India which is owned by Sahara Group. Sahara group made the highest bid in IPL auction held on 22 march, 2010 about Rs.1,702 crore. For Kochi Cricket Pvt.Ltd Rendezvous Sports World made the second highest bid of about Rs.1533.32 crore. The two new teams were sold for the sum of money which is greater than money spent by all other eight IPL teams.
Kochi Tuskers Kerala was named originally as Indi Commandos Kerala, but the name and logo got lots of negative responses. So later management changed the name Indi Commandos Kerala to Kochi Tuskers Kerala.
Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium at Kochi will be the home ground for Kochi Tuskers Kerala. Kerala Cricket Association took the stadium on long term lease for hosting IPL matches. 7 home matches will hosted at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium by Kochi Tuskers.

Kochi IPL Team announced Federal Bank as their Principal Sponsor
Federal Bank which is the leading bank in Kerala is announced as the principal sponsor for Kochi IPL team known as Kochi Tuskers Kerala. The official agreement has been signed by Federal Banks Executive Director Mr. P.C. John and Kochi IPL team director Mr. Mehul Shah. Federal Banks Chief General Manager Mr. T.S. Jagadeesh, Chief of Public Relations Mr. Raju Hormis and the directors of Kochi IPL Team Mr. Vivek Venugopal and Mr. Saketh Mehtha were also present at the function. Kochi IPL team who had recently changed their name to Kochi Tuskers Kerala had announced that they are very satisfied with their relationship with Federal Bank. The team authorities announced that they had completed their theme song and ready for their first match. The function is been held at the Federal Bank corporate center at Aluva. Kochi Tuskers Kerala is selected as the official name for Kochi ipl Team
Kochi ipl gets its new name and logo as per the online voting conducted among its fans. The new name will be Kochi Tuskers Kerala. According to Kerala Cricket Association (KCA), the name has been approved by BCCI and IPL governing council. The previous name ‘Indi Commandos Kochi’ has been changed due strong protests of the fans of kerala team through social networking sites. As per the online voting done on the Kochi ipl team on its official website, ‘Kochi Tuskers’ got the largest number of votes. Kerla Tuskers got the second highest vote in the online voting just below Kochi Tuskers. So the Kochi ipl team authorities decided to add ‘Kerala’ to the name. Elephant being the official animal of the state, will give an emotional edge among Keralites as expected by Kochi ipl team owners. The online voting that has been conducted on 10th March, 2011 had provided fans the authority to select name from given twelve combination names.
Also Kochi team has selected their home ground as Kochi. Earlier they had planned to select Ahmedabad as their home ground. According to Kochi ipl team they will start their franchise office at Kochi on 15th of this month. The first IPL match of the team will be at Kochi against Bangalore Royal Challengers on 9th April 2011.
