Syro-Malabar Major Archbishop, Cardinal Mar Varkey Vidayathil passed away at Lissy Hospital in Ernakulam today at 2 pm. He was 84 and been serving as Major Archbishop of Eranakulam and Angamaly Archdiocese and member of Most Holy Redeemer.He was admitted to Lissy Hospital as he was having heart pain in the middle of his Noon Holly Mass at 12 pm. He was then immediately taken to Lissy Hospital.

Achuthananthan, Leader of Opposition Mr. Oomman Chandy, KPCC President Mr. Ramesh Chennithala, LDF Convener Mr Vaikom Vishvom, CPIM State Seceratory Mr. Pinarayi Vijayan and Muslim League President Mr. Panakkadu Hyderali Shihab Thangal announced their condolences about the demise.

Cardinal Mar Varkey vithayathil was born on may 29, 1927 at North Paravur, Ernakulam, kerala. And became the member of Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer. He was ordained as a priest in 12th june 1954. He holds a doctorate in canon law from the pontifical university of St.Thomas Aquinas in Rome. He was ordained as a bisop on 6th January 1997. He took the archiepiscopal titular see of Ohrid, later titular was changed to Ckeikh-Abadeh.
He became Major Archbishop of Ernakulam-Angamaly for Syro-Malabar Catholics on 18 December 1999. He became Cardinal-Priest of Titulus San Bernardo alle Terme on 21 February 2001. He became president of Catholic Bishops conference of India in February 2008.
He also serves as the president of the Synod of Syro-Malabar church.
Mar Varkey Vithayathil was one of the cardinal electors who participated in the papal conclave that elected Pope Benedict XVI in 2005.

Facebook also provides you options to follow your friend’s questions. This is done by clicking the follow link. Also don’t ask personal questions if you don’t want everyone see it.  Your questions should be specific if you need correct answers and don’t expect answers to the hypothetical and generic questions. This service is not a private questionnaire for some group of friends. So all your questions and answers are visible to users of facebook.

EARTH HOUR 2011

images of earth hourEarth hour is a world event organized by world wildlife fund (WWF) to guide the world, the awareness of climate change. Earth Hour is first started in Sydney on 2007 and about 2.2 million people participated in the event.  Earth hour is usually conducted on last Saturday of March from 8:30p.m. to 9:30 p.m. local time in every country.

With almost 5 million supporters and a global network in over 100 countries, it’s one of the world’s largest independent conservation organizations. WWF’s mission is to stop the degradation of the Earth’s environment and build a future where people live in harmony with nature.

Mobiles, Social Medias and internets play a crucial role in the promotion of earth hour.

India joined earth hour movement 2 years back in 2009. In first year itself 5million Indians across 56 cities supported the event, and India saved about 1000MW in 1 hour.  In 2010, 6million Indians joined the event, banks, Indian military academy, local cafes etc joined.  Other land marks like India gate, red fort, Mumbai CST also joined.

Earth hour is asking every person, businesses etc to join the event to show their respect to the environment by turning off lights from 8:30p.m to 9:30p.m. local time, on March 26 Saturday.

IT companies like Wipro and many other companies  also join this by turning off air-conditioner for 1 hour and their by saving about 19000units of electricity. 19000units means 16 metric tons of carbon dioxide.

RECORD DOWNLOAD FOR NEW MOZILLA FIREFOX

mozilla firefox 4Mozilla launched new version of firefox, its free and open source web browser on Tuesday. And got a record download about 15 million download by Thursday. By this firefox has beaten the record of internet explorer 9 which is launched last week.

The new Mozilla firefox a lots of improvement than the previous versions. They improved privacy, security feature etc.

The new firefox promotes the capabilities of HTML 5, a web programming language that provides full interaction without the need of external plug-ins like adobe flash. These also help in hardware acceleration, which help the performance of graphics processor.

Mozilla also offering a new feature, Mozilla Sync, which allows people to automatically sync their bookmarks, open browser tabs and settings between multiple computers, mobile phones and Android-based tablet computers. The Mozilla Sync feature will not work with Apple’s iOS devices, which include the iPhone and iPad, because the browser is not available on Apple’s mobile platform.

The new Internet Explorer 9 do not support windows XP which is used by most people in India. It support only windows vista and windows 7.

Muslim League announces its candidates for Kerala Assembly Elections 2011

Muslim League has announced its candidate list in 22 seats out of 24 for the coming Kerala Elections 2011. The list was finalized after the party parliamentary committee meeting held under Panakkad Hyderali Shihab Thangal. Other members in the parliamentary committee are General Secretary P.K.Kunhalikutty, E.Ahammed, E.T. Mohammad Basher, Syed Sadikkali Shihab Thangal. Candidates for Guruvayoor and Eravipuram Seats are also announced. Parliamentary committee members including P.K. Kunhalikutty and E.T. Mohammed Basher and Dr. M.K. Muneer will be main Candidates for Muslim League.

CPI announced their candidates for 23 seats

CPI on yesterday announced their final candidate list for their 23 seats out of 27 seats for Kerala assembly elections which will be conducted on 13th April 2011. The list as earlier announced by CPI has left out 8 sitting MLA’s including two cabinet ministers and a deputy speaker Mr. Jose Baby who have completed two terms as MLA. The ministers left out were Revenue Minister Mr. K.P.Rajendran, Minister of Forests Mr. Binoy Viswom. Food and Civil Supplies Minister Mr. C.Divakaran and Agriculture Minister Mr. Mullakkara Ratnakaran who have completed only term will remain in the list. The names were decided giving keen interest for the youth candidates. Ex MP and state committee member of CPI Mr. Panyann Ravindran is on the list.

UDF Seat Sharing Finalised

UDF seat sharing finally completed on the very next day after the LDF Seat sharing. According to UDF convener P.P.Thankachan, UDF has finally completed their seat sharing with 81 seats for Indian National Congress (INC). Seat division was finally completed as Kerala Congress (M) has finally compromised their demand for 18 seats to 15. According to Kerala Congress (M) chairman Mr. K.M.Mani, they will be currently compeering in 15 seats, but have made some arrangements for one more seat with the Congress. Muslim League will remain the second largest party in UDF with 24 seats. Earlier Socialist Janatha Party and Kerala Congress (Jacob) had agreed to compromise with 7 and 3 seats respectively. Also JSS has agreed to go on with their Kaipamangalam seat. Earlier JSS has agreed to go with 4 seats which includes Cherthala, Karunagapally, Mavelikkara and Kaipamangalam. Kerala Congress ( M ) is expected to compete in Pala, Kaduthuruthy, Poonjar, Changanachery, Idukki, Kothamangalam, Erinjalakkuda, Perambra, Thiruvalla, Thodupuzha,Kanjirapally, Ettumanoor,Punaloor or Kuttanad seats and one seat from Palakkad and Kannur districts.

The final seat division will be as follows

Congress                           – 81 seats

Muslim League              – 24 seats

Kerala Congress (M)   – 15 seats

Socialist Janatha          – 7 seats
