ONGC to restart their oil exploration at Cochin
According to the reports from ONGC, they are keen on restarting the oil exploration in Arabian sea near Kochi. At first they are planning to start drilling of three oil wells. ONGC had previously done drilling in Kochi from August to December last year. Sources say that ONGC got some information about the oil reserves in the area from the last exploration. ONGC had done drilling for about 6000 meters last time. This time they were planning to drill beyond 6000 meters. The drilling is likely to be concentrated on the more older rocks than the previous time. According to the sources the preliminary project work for the exploration is done by Mr. D.K.Pandey before recently retiring from his service. According to Mr.D.K.Pandey ,the chemical analysis report from last exploration give a clear indication about the availability of petroleum and natural resources in that area. According to his expert advise they should least start drilling at three rigs in the new exploration. Acording to the reports, the drilling rigs will be at the kochi-kongan coast between cochin and Mangalapuram. Last year it was about 70 nautical miles from Cochin using Realiance Drilling Platform which has a daily rental rate of Rs 4cr. The same Drilling platform is most likely to be used in the new exploration.
Aircel to Launch 3G Services in Kerala
Aircel is planning to launch its 3G services in Kerala likely to be at the middle of this month, March. Aircel’s National Operations Head Mr Vipul Saurab and company’s Southern Operations Head Mr K.V.P. Basker said on yesterday that they will launch their 3G services in 10 cities and 375 base stations around Kerala. Out of the thirteen 3G circles. Aircel have license to provide the service in three circles all around India. Mr Vipul Saurab on yesterday said that they are able to provide the services around the middle of this month on all their three circles. They are expecting that about 10% of their customers will start using this facility. Aircel has about 20 lakhs customers in Kerala and a total of 5.5 cr customers in India. The company is expecting an increase of 20% to 25% growth in later months in 3G users. The company also has wireless broadband license in eight circles around the country. The company finds great scope in providing internet, tv and videos through 3G. BSNL and Tata Docomo already started the 3G service in kerala.

Kerala Assembly Elections 2011 Dates Announced
Election Commission today announced the Election date 2011 for 5 states including Kerala and Bengal Legislative Assembly. In Kerala the Election will be in single phase. But in Bengal, its in six phases. The Kerala election will be on April 13 and the results will be announce on May 13. The Election dates of West Bengal are April 18, 23, 27, May 1, 7 and 10. The election date of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry will be on April 13. The election dates of Assam will be in 2 phases and they are April and 11. The results will be announced on May 13 for all these states.
The term of Legislative Assembly of Kerala will be expires on 23-05-2011. The total number of Assembly Constituencies of Kerala are 140, out of them 14 seats are reserved for SC and 2 seats are reserved for ST. The Electoral rolls of all the existing Assembly Constituencies of Kerala are revised and as per the final rolls, the number of electors are 2,29,40,408.
This is the 1st time that NRI Voters have been enabled to be enrolled as voters and would be able to vote in person.

AMMA MEGA EVENT
Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes commonly known as AMMA will be conducting a star show of Malayalam film actors called “ Suryathejasode Amma”. The show will be held on F on March 2, 2011 in Kozhikode, Kerala. The show will have Malayalam film stars of all stages. Actually the show is joint venture between AMMA and Sun Network. The Sun Network with its Malayalam Channel Surya TV will be telecast this show “ Suryathejasode Amma” on Surya TV sometime later this month. All the members of AMMA will be present on March 2 for the show as expected by Mr Innocent, the president of AMMA.Malayalam film Director Mr Lal will direct the stage show “ Suryathejasode Amma” as Mr Siddique who has been the director of AMMMA’s earlier shows is busy with the Hindi remake of his film Bodyguard with Salman Khan.The practice sessions for the show is going well in Kochi as said by AMMA. Mr. Innocent, president of AMMA said that the main objective of the show “ Suryathejasode Amma”, is to provide Medical and financial aid to families of performing artists, who are not self sustainable and also to provide a fixed monthly income to the retried artistes.
Later they have changed the program at Kozhikode from February 2 to 3 due to Shivaratri celebrations.
Kavya Madhavan to become the brand ambassador for Kerala Soaps
Kavya Madhavan, the leading film actress in Malayalam film industry will be appointed as the brand ambassador of Kerala Soaps and Oils. Sri A. Pradeep Kumar, MLA, announced on Sunday that Kavya Madhavan had agreed to become the brand ambassador of Kerala soaps free of cost. The company already has three brands of toilet soaps and a washing soap. The company will introduce three more brands in March. Kerala Industries Minister Elamaram Karim will make the declaration about the ambassadorship at a function to be held on Kozhikode beach at 6 p.m. on March 1. Kavya Madhavan will address the gathering .Additional Chief Secretary of Kerala T. Balakrishnan is expected to give the keynote address at the ceremony. Mayor A.K. Premajam, M.K. Raghavan MP and Chairman of KSIE Scaria Thomas will be present at the function. After the function, there will be a musical program led by leading actor in Malayalam cinema Kalabhavan Mani.

Veteran Malayalam Actress Aranmula Ponnamma passed away
Veteran Malayalam Actress Aranmula ponnamma dies at 96 years
The mother of Malayalam Cinema Aranmula Ponnamma passed away at the age of 96. She died at a private hospital on Monday evening at Thiruvananthapuram. She was already in treatment due to different disease due to the old age. The funeral will be on Tuesday evening at Shantikavadam, Thiruvananthapuram. Aranmula Ponnamma is the Grand Mother of Malayalam Actor, Suresh Gopi’s wife Radhika. She was living in the house of Suresh Gopi. Her husband KrishnaPillai, son Dr. Rajashekaran and daughter Rajamma were already passed away before some years back. Her last movie was Gaurisankaram.
Aranmula Ponnamma is the daughter of KeshavaPillai and ParukuttyAmma of famous Malelathu House at Aranmula of Pathanamthitta district. Her father died when she was only 9 years old. She start to study music first from her mother itself and then from Ambalapuzha Nanu Aashan.
She got married to KrishnaPillai of CheruPilla house when she was 14 years old. She got the job of a Music Teacher at Pala at the age of 16 years. She was a classmate of Philipose Mar Chrysostom at her school days. Mother of M.G. Radhakrishnan’s mother was her classmate at the Music Academy.
Aranmula Ponnamma’s debuted drama was Bhagyalakshmi with the father of singer K.J.Yesudas’s father Augustine Joseph on the year 1945. Her debuted movie was Sashidharan in the year 1950. In that movie she got the role of Miss. Kumari’s mother when she was 36 years old only. After that she got a lot of chance in the movies, but all the roles are mother roles. She was in the film industry for almost 60 years. She got the mother role of Thikkurisi, Satyan, Prem Nazir, Sukumaran, MohanLal, Mammootty, Suresh Gopi, Kamal Haasan, Shivaji Ganeshan, Dileep, etc.
In 1995, she got the National award for Adoor Gopalakrishnan’s Kathapurushan for the supporting actress and got the J.C. Daniel award of Kerala Government on 2006 and a lot of Kerala Government recognitions. Also she got Prem Nazir award, Madras Film Fans association award, Film Critics award, etc. She got the roles in more than 500 films as the role of mother and grand mother with four cinema generations.
