Birthday Greetings to V S Achuthanandan

Kerala Chief Minister and Senior CPI-M leader Sri. V S Achuthanandan turned 87 today. He was born on October 20, 1923 at Punnapra, a village in Alleppey District. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and other leaders belonging to different parties greeted him birthday wishes. V S Achuthanandan spend the lunch time of this special day with his family including his wife Vasumathi, son, daughter, in-laws and grand children his official residence. Rest of the day was as usual for him with official meetings, discussions etc. V.S is a practitioner of healthy lifestyle and principles. He follows a vegetarian diet now and exercise regularly,the secret of his energy.

Kerala Panchayath Elections 2010 Results Online

Voters of Kerala can enjoy live results for the upcoming Kerala Panchayath Elections 2010 via Online. The Online system will become active on October 27, 2010 just after the vote counting begins . The Online live result delivery is made possible with a special software, e-trends developed by the combined efforts of the National Informatics Mission, BSNL and IT Mission. The system gives public the results regarding the seats gained by each group as well as the candidate wise results. There will be simultaneous vote counting for Grama Panchayats, Block and Districts. The polling in the urban civic bodies will be conducted with the aid of electronic voting machines. The complete results will be on line or on air by the afternoon. Kerala state is having 21,595 wards.

Vidyarambham at Kottayam

Vidyarambham is the day in which Kids are introduced to the world of letters and knowledge. Vidyarambham ceremonies are being organised by various organisations in the District. The Vidyarambham by DC Books will be held at DC Kizakkemuriyidom on Sunday. Vidyarambham at DC Books commence at 8 a.m.

Malayala Manorama is also organising a very colourful Vidyarambham ceremony. Kids can write their first letters under the guidance of the most reputed Teachers of Kerala. Vidyarambham at Malayala Manorama, Kottayam commence at 6 a.m. Vidhyarambham at Manorama is open to only those who registered earlier. Special prizes are there for Kids participating in this ceremony along with certificates. The Teachers guiding Kids at Manorama include P.K Narayanapanikar, Dr. Cyriac Thomas, Shaji N. Kerala Panchayath Election 2010 Dates Announced by Election Commission

The local body elections in Kerala got announced yesterday (27/09/2010) by the election commission. Candidate’s nominations are acceptable until October 4, 2010 at the electoral officer’s office and asst electoral officer’s office. Nominations can be submitted from 11 AM to 3 PM. Along with the nominations the candidates need to submit declarations regarding their share, properties, educational details and criminal background too  if any. The nominations should also include details about their dependents. Local body elections in this schedule cover the entire 997 Panchayaths, 14 District Panchayats, 52 Municipalities and 5 Corporations.

The nomination fee at Panchayats and Corporations is Rs. 200, Municipalities and Block Panchayaths Rs. 150 and Panchayath’s Rs 100. A reduction of 50 % in fee amount is there for reservation candidates.

The last date for the withdrawal of applications is October 7, 2010.

The local body elections 2010 in Kerala will be conducted in 2 days, 23rd and 25th October 2010.

Elections of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kozhikode, Waynad, Kannur and Kasargod will be conducted on 23rd and Idukki, Kottayam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur,Palakkad and Malappuram elections on October 25th.

The results of Kerala Panchayath Election 2010 will get declared on October 27,2010.

Calicut to become first Plastic Free District India

Calicut is now getting ready to enjoy the title of first plastic free village in India. A special campaign “Mass Action for Plastic Waste Free” will be inaugurated on October 2, 2010 at Calicut beach.  This campaign is a joint venture Kerala Science and Technology Department and Ebgeyor waste management and research centre. The estimated target achievement date is January 26, 2010. An action plan of 4 months is scheduled for this. Plastic Free Calicut will be made possible with the corporation of the Students, Govt and Non Govt Employees.

“Mass Action for Plastic Waste Free” seeks the help and corporation of 50,5000 students from  1500 schools and 56 colleges. The campaign also seeks corporation of Cultural institutions, “Kudumbashree”, Reading Libraries, Clubs etc.

There will be four phases for this campaign. In the first phase Resource recovery centers will be installed for the collection of plastic waste.

The waste from these centers will be collected once in a week for recycling to the  Recycling centers in vehicles.

Alternatives for disposable glasses and plates will be promoted.

Control measures will be implemented on the control of plastic flags and decorations, boards and carry bags.

D Ramanaidu wins Phalke Award

The veteran producer of South India, D Ramanaidu won the greatest award of Indian cinema, Dadasaheb Phalke Award. This is an annual award given by the Government of India for the life time contribution to Indian cinema. The award will be given to him next month at Goa. Phalke award includes the Golden Lotus Statue and an award sum of Rs. 10 lakhs.

D Ramanaidu was born on 1936 in Andhra Pradesh. His first marking on the silver screen was through movie “ Anuragam” in the year 1963. His first super hit was N.T Ramarao’s “Ramundo Bhimundo”.  D Ramanaidu have produced about 130 films in various languages such as Telugu, Hindi, Marathi, Guajarati, Malayalam, Bhojpuri, Bengali etc. His film “Surigodu” was nominated to Indian panorama for the year 1993 and his Bengali movie “Asukh” won the National award for the year 1999. He introduced many new directors and technicians to Indian cinema.

His famous works include Shrikrishna Tulabharam, Bobble Raja, Preminchu, Hamar Bedi, Andhra Vaibhavm etc
