Santosh Shivan’s big budget film ‘URUMI’ to be realeased on March 31
The brilliant Cinematographer and Director of Indian cinema, Santosh Shivan comes with his new Malayalam movie Urumi. Like his movie Ashoka (2001), he is again going for another historical significant movie with famous actor and actress in Indian cinema. This film is also released in other languages Tamil, Hindi and English.
The movie is released under the banner of August Cinema. The story is about an assassination attempt of Vasco Da Gama, Portuguese explorer who arrived in Calicut in 15th century. So Vasco Da Gama is title of its English version. Tamil title is Pathinaindham Nootrandu Uraivaal and Hindi title is yet-to-be announced.
With its historical thrilling background, all commercial formula like romance, songs, fights are all included in this movie with its great stars. Cast of this movie include Super star Prithviraj, with Prabhu Deva, Arya, Tabu, Genelia, Vidya Balan, Nithya Menon, Jagathy, Amole Gupte, Chandan Roy Sanyal and others. Shaji Natesan, Santosh Sivan, and Prithviraj are the producers of this movie. Cinematography by Santosh Sivan, First assistant camera by Anjuli Shukla, Music by Deepak Dev, Film Editing by A. AMMA MEGA EVENT
Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes commonly known as AMMA will be conducting a star show of Malayalam film actors called “ Suryathejasode Amma”. The show will be held on F on March 2, 2011 in Kozhikode, Kerala. The show will have Malayalam film stars of all stages. Actually the show is joint venture between AMMA and Sun Network. The Sun Network with its Malayalam Channel Surya TV will be telecast this show “ Suryathejasode Amma” on Surya TV sometime later this month. All the members of AMMA will be present on March 2 for the show as expected by Mr Innocent, the president of AMMA.Malayalam film Director Mr Lal will direct the stage show “ Suryathejasode Amma” as Mr Siddique who has been the director of AMMMA’s earlier shows is busy with the Hindi remake of his film Bodyguard with Salman Khan.The practice sessions for the show is going well in Kochi as said by AMMA. Mr. Innocent, president of AMMA said that the main objective of the show “ Suryathejasode Amma”, is to provide Medical and financial aid to families of performing artists, who are not self sustainable and also to provide a fixed monthly income to the retried artistes.
Later they have changed the program at Kozhikode from February 2 to 3 due to Shivaratri celebrations.
Veteran Malayalam Actress Aranmula Ponnamma passed away
Veteran Malayalam Actress Aranmula ponnamma dies at 96 years
The mother of Malayalam Cinema Aranmula Ponnamma passed away at the age of 96. She died at a private hospital on Monday evening at Thiruvananthapuram. She was already in treatment due to different disease due to the old age. The funeral will be on Tuesday evening at Shantikavadam, Thiruvananthapuram. Aranmula Ponnamma is the Grand Mother of Malayalam Actor, Suresh Gopi’s wife Radhika. She was living in the house of Suresh Gopi. Her husband KrishnaPillai, son Dr. Rajashekaran and daughter Rajamma were already passed away before some years back. Her last movie was Gaurisankaram.
Aranmula Ponnamma is the daughter of KeshavaPillai and ParukuttyAmma of famous Malelathu House at Aranmula of Pathanamthitta district. Her father died when she was only 9 years old. She start to study music first from her mother itself and then from Ambalapuzha Nanu Aashan.
She got married to KrishnaPillai of CheruPilla house when she was 14 years old. She got the job of a Music Teacher at Pala at the age of 16 years. She was a classmate of Philipose Mar Chrysostom at her school days. Mother of M.G. Radhakrishnan’s mother was her classmate at the Music Academy.
Aranmula Ponnamma’s debuted drama was Bhagyalakshmi with the father of singer K.J.Yesudas’s father Augustine Joseph on the year 1945. Her debuted movie was Sashidharan in the year 1950. In that movie she got the role of Miss. Kumari’s mother when she was 36 years old only. After that she got a lot of chance in the movies, but all the roles are mother roles. She was in the film industry for almost 60 years. She got the mother role of Thikkurisi, Satyan, Prem Nazir, Sukumaran, MohanLal, Mammootty, Suresh Gopi, Kamal Haasan, Shivaji Ganeshan, Dileep, etc.
In 1995, she got the National award for Adoor Gopalakrishnan’s Kathapurushan for the supporting actress and got the J.C. Daniel award of Kerala Government on 2006 and a lot of Kerala Government recognitions. Also she got Prem Nazir award, Madras Film Fans association award, Film Critics award, etc. She got the roles in more than 500 films as the role of mother and grand mother with four cinema generations.
Yesudas coming as an actor
Even though the melodious pride of all Malayalis had made several appearances on silver screen as a singer, this time it is different. Yesudas comes as an actor this time. Yesudas will do a major role in the movie Cleopatra.
Cleopatra is a multilingual movie directed by Rajan Shankaradi. Cleopatra will be released in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu. Vijay Yesudas recently made his first appearance as an actor.
Vineeth and Manoj K Jayan are coming in hero roles for the movie Cleopatra.
Best Actor Releases on November 25
The Martin Prakkat movie starring megastar Mammootty as hero will release on November 25, 2010.The story of Best Actor is also by Martin. Martin Prakkat is a reputed photographer and this is his first venture as a director.
In Best Actor, Mammootty performs the role of a teacher who’s mind is filled with desire towards acting. Kannada actress Sruthi Ramakrishnan is the heroine. Sruthi comes in the role of Savitri, a music teacher.
Other cast of Best Actor movie include Nedumudi Venu, Salim Kumar, Sukumari and KPSC Lalita.

Arjunan Sakshi is the new movie venture from the director of Passenger Ranjith Shankar. Prithivraj is the hero and Ann Augestine is the heroine. The other lead cast of the movie include Jagathy Sreekumar, Salim Kumar, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Biju Menon, Nedumudi Venu, Vijayaraghavan and Vijish.

Story Line of Arjunan Sakshi
The movie will tell us the story of a young architect Roy Mathew. Roy is born and brought up outside Kerala. Roy is having roots in Kerala and use to visit here during vacations. One day Roy came to Cochin for an official assignment. Roy is having great desire to live in Kerala but innumerable problems are waiting him there. Kerala experienced by Roy is not what he expected. In that journey Roy finds out a person called called Arjunan. Here comes the twist of the story
