Mini Rajasthan Festival at Cochin
A mini Rajasthan fest will be conducted by the department of Rajasthan Tourism at Cochin on 8th and 9th of September 2010. This fest will be held at Pappali Hall at Ernakulam. This fest is a part of Rajasthan Tourism promotion campaign titled “Rajasthan Calling”. The traditional dance and food of Rajasthan is the chief attractions of this fest. All female visitors will be treated with free Mehendi on their hands. Mini Rajasthan fest will exhibit Rajasthan’s culture, art and handicraft. People can experience this fest from 11 am to 8 pm. There are around 25 stalls featuring various products. The chief attractions featured are wooden toys from Basichitoor, clay products from Ciya, small stone statues from Bansara, Ajmer gota works, Aratari Sardosi works from Niya village, Jute & Leather products from Jodhpur & Shinmalil, Tie and Dye from Akola, Brass Nakshi, Baladehi and Forest products from Barna.
Literature Competitions at MG University
The department of publication at MG University, Kottayam will be conducting Competitions for the literature awards Vaikom Muhammad memorial award for story and Ayyapa Panikker memorial award for poetry. Students of various department s and affiliated colleges can participate in this fest. The stories and poems must attached with the attestation statement of the Principal and also the declaration statement by the student stating that it’s his own genuine work. The students also need to mention his full address for communication. All entries must reach the MG university publication department before September 30, 2010. Oh Yaaro India Bula Liya
The most awaited audio release of this year in India was held on last Saturday. The theme song of Commonwealth games, Delhi 2010 which is a six month work of India’s pride A.R Rahman. This anthem of CWG 2010 was sung by Rahman in front of a large crowd assembled at Kingdom of Dreams, Gurgaon. This colorful ceremony took place in the presence of Mrs. Shila Dixit, Delhi Chief Minister & Chairman of organizing committee games 2010 and Mr.Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Chief Minister of Haryana. The legendary words in this anthem Jiyo Utho Bado Jeeto means Live, Rise, Ascend and Win. This song is capable of inspiring all the participants in the Games and also to share its spirit to the sports enthusiasts.
Commonwealth Express in Kerala
People of Kerala have now got a chance to witness the history of India’s great leaps in Sports and IT together. This is through the Commonwealth Express Train of 11 wagons picturing the special blend of Sports and Information Technology. People can visit this train at various stations from 10 am to 8 pm. There is no entry fee for experiencing this beauty on iron wheels. The train will be stationed at Trivandrum till 8 pm today (26-08-2010). Commonwealth Express reaches Quilon tomorrow (270802010) and Cochin on 28th. This train is a great option to know the history of IT and Computer in India from its initial stages onwards and also to remember India’s Sports legends.
Queens Baton Relay in Kerala
The Queens Baton Relay in connection with the Commonwealth Games 2010 will be given a warm welcome at Trivandrum today. The Baton will be received in Kaliyikkavila at 12 pm today. Chief Minister Shri. V.S Achutanandan will conduct the release of a special cover printed in concern with the function. The Queens Baton will be given with a warm welcome at Chandrashekaran Nair stadium today, by all people’s representatives, sports enthusiasts and public at 6 pm. Queens’s baton will be received at Ernakulum tomorrow (27-08-2010) and at Thrissur and Calicut on 28th.
