Kottayam goes 3G from tomorrow
- 3G in Kottayam
The first phase of BSNL 3G services in the district will be launched tomorrow (02-02-2010). The inauguration of this new service in the district will be done by Jose. K. Mani MP at 2.00 pm tomorrow. In this first phase the places in Kottayam district covered by 3G are Chengalam, Chingavanam, Kottayam town, Gandhinagar, Kanjikuzy, Ettumanoor, Kumarakom, M G university, Punnathura, Panachikadu, Kanakari, Panambalam, Puttanangadi, Eravinallor, Samkranthi, Kalathipady, Nattasherry, Athirampuzha, Muledam, Kudamallor, Pallam,Nattakam, Tazethangadi, Aymanam, Kunnapally, Carithas, Kumaranallor and Medical college
The places that will be covered in the second phase are Perur, Ammancherry, Iranjal, Manganam, Outtenangadi, Vadavathoor and Boat jetty.
All the district centers will come under 3G by February 10, 2010.
MACFAST Industry Interface
Mar Athanasios College for Advanced Studies Tiruvalla (MACFAST), the leading providers of technical education in Kerala is launching their Industry Interface program at Technopark today. This is a project to bridge the gap between the students of technology and the technology firms. This centre will give the student the real exposure to the industry and makes him aware about the industrial expectations.
MII provides the students courses in various software and Industrial applications along with the guidance to their academic projects. The industrial exposure can take the students through the exact software development life cycle from the design phase to the implementation and maintenance.
MII also makes the students and project managers of various IT firms to interact each other and share their ideas and thoughts. There will be programs to improve the soft skills of the students and also seminars by the professionals from industry. The students can also take part in the activities of the industry through this program.
This excellent innovative concept can change the face of professional education in Kerala.
SAF Games 2010

The 11th South Asian games will start today (29-01-2010) at Bangladesh. The inaugural ceremony is at 4.00 pm today. The inauguration will be done by Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hassina. The SAF games comprises of 23 competitive events in which about 1500 athletes are participating. SAF games 2010 have participants from India, Bhutan, Afghanistan, Maldives, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Nepal. Last SAF games were conducted at Colombo. India secured first position in last SAF games with more than 200 points. This time India is not planning to participate in cricket competition here. In this 11th edition of SAF games 20-20 cricket is also included
Navayagarima Cultural Fest at Calicut

A cultural fest for the remembrance of the traditional “Mamankam” event in Kerala will be held tomorrow (30-01-2010) at Calicut. This is a historical fest conducted at the banks of Nila River. The event is a joint venture of Re-Echow which is a cultural group association and Kerala Kalaripayattu association.
Mamankam was a Martial art event held years back at the reign of Kings. The fest includes programs such as visit to the historical remains of Mamankam fest, procession and gatherings.

Apple i-Pad tablet launched
- Apple ipad
i-pad is having a 10 inch display with the touch screen capability. Ipad can become a very much welcomed gadget among youth. The price of Apple i-pad in Indian market is around Rs 24750. This is the case of basic model with wifi and 16 GB storage space.
The models with 3G cost $130 more. The price of the extreme model with 3G and 64 GB storage is $829.
Kerala University Youth Festival Prizes Distributed
- KU Youth Fest Prize distribution
The prize distribution of the Kerala university Youth festival was done by superstar Mammootty yesterday. The first prize is won by Mar Ivanios college and the second prize goes to All Saints College. The students of Mar Ivanios college secured a total of 137 points and All saints college with a total of 80 points. The third position goes to SST college of Music with 54 points.
The Kalathilakam of the fest is Ms Madhavi Chandran of All Saints College and the Kalaprathibha is Sreekuttan M.S of University College
