President visit in Kerala

Indian president Pratibha Devisigh Patil is on a 2 day visit in Kerala. She reached here o 27th morning and will return to Delhi by 28th afternoon. She will inaugurate the All India Woman Advocate Federation National Seminar at Cochin. There was also a proposed plan for boating in Vaikom Murinja puza river on Sunday. This got cancelled due to security issues. Today there will be special traffic controlling in Cochin. She will return on a special flight from the naval airport.

Ezhuthachan award for Sugatakumari

The Kerala government declared the Ezuthachen prize of the year. Sugatakumari the famous Malayalam poet as well as an activist of nature and human right wins this prize for year 2009. The prize was awarded to the poet by Kerala chief minister Mr.V.S Achutanadan. He said in the award ceremony that the developmental activities must be performed in an environmental friendly manner. He also praised her efforts in protecting the silent valley region decades before. The function was held at the Durbar hall of the secretariat. In this function Sugatakumari told the audience that Ezhuthachan was a familiar name for her even before she learned to write. Minister M.A Baby was the chief guest over the function. Famous personalities of the Malayalam literature Mr. O.N.V Kurup and M.Mukundan addressed the audiences.
